Our heroine has stepped on the wrong toes, and her opponent evidently plans to go medieval on her.

Not a modeling job, just a scene construction with stock parts in DAZ Studio. Post in GIMP. Licensed under a Creative Commons share-alike license, although not for commercial use.

A little late to joining this party, but thought I'd contribute anyway. Hope that's okay.

Compositionally, I believe this hold together quite well. There's a sort of Victorianism in the almost but not quite "cluttered" look of the scene--in fact, to move from Victorian to Edwardian one might wish for even more items in the scene: arcane books, stuffed animals, odd gewgaws from various parts of the world--that kind of British kitschy trash. But here you haven't gone that far. The items there seem, actually, more sparse than packed in, and you've been judicious about what they are: various vials of whatever, a skull pile, the odd trunk, box, barrel, vase. I love the bookshelf and its contents--that works beautifully.

The briefcase on the floor provides the real mystery to the scene. As viewers, we wonder what its role is in the storyline.

The woman in the chair is, frankly, exquisitely done. She's posed halfway between completely casual and intently engaged. Her mod haircut really highlights the red hair, and you've done a lovely job with the candlelight to bring out those red locks. The shoes are terrific. The only problem I have is that anatomically her right foot isn't placed well. Given the positioning, we should be able to clearly see her right knee and part of her thigh on the other side of her left leg. This can be fixed in the other direction, too, by bringing her right foot down further toward the floor. I hope you'll be able to make some sort of a fix.

As for the caged damsel, I'm quite impressed with, oncer again, the way you've got her lit by the candle, although I suppose that one might quibble with the amount of light reaching her left side--could one candle shed that much light? The only sour note here is the incongruity posed by the absence of all but panties below, but the presence of a top covering her breasts above. Perhaps her captor has a weird fetish going on, or perhaps the top is supposed to be ripped--and there apparently is no bra underneath.

Last but not least...what's with the toy animal on the floor? Help us understand how that contributes to your plotline...or does it?

All in all, to me this is an evocative and mysterious, well executed image. Thanks much for displaying it for us.

Excellent analysis. I don't often get people to talk about what they see. All of my images are mainly Rorschachs. I set them up to push people in a general direction and they take it from there. As you noted, lifelike poses are hard to do, and it is usually easy to see incongruities. Also, as is often the case, some objects end up a bit difficult to make out. It isn't a briefcase on the floor but an old bound book (of spells? an old pharmacopoeia?). The beakers of liquid, the bucket, and the sprayer are intended to evoke some imminent weirdness on the part of the seated woman. One can only assume that the caged girl is in for a long and unpleasant evening. There are other props to indicate that there is an abundant supply of additional materials. The caged girl's top is too ambiguous, I guess. Not something she would wear, puzzling if the seated woman put it on her. Perhaps to assuage the immodesty of having her breasts so exposed? The bunny? Ah yes, the dead bunny toy. Well there you have it.

The general intent is to induce that sort of guessing game. I'm glad it piqued your curiosity.

Thanks!
